Welcome to Murrumbidgee Local Health District

Our Induction and Orientation Program has been created so that you can familiarise yourself with our vision, values, cultures, procedures and structures.

MLHD Induction program

Your induction will be completed over a 12 month period and consists of the information within your new team member guide document which you will receive once you accept your offer, complemented by discussions with your manager about your new position and a local workplace orientation for your specific work environment.

Online induction consists of a learning pathway that will provide important information that includes MLHD corporate knowledge, mandatory training requirements and how to contribute positively to the culture of the workplace.

Stages of induction

Pre-commencement through to the end of Week 1

This includes Pre-Commencement documents which you may have already undertaken with Workforce Services and your manager. This period also incorporates the Commencement period including the first two days through to the end of week one. This stage is to assist you in orientating to your work environment, ensuring you understand the mandatory training requirements and time frames for completion. . This is your opportunity to gather as much information as you can to assist you in your role and to identify any areas of learning you will need to support you in your role and plan the next 12 months with your manager.

Your manager, workforce services and other support people will be there to assist you through the process and you will be given peer support with a colleague if required.

First three months of employment

This period takes you to the end of your third month and includes engaging with your team and gaining knowledge of all operational, technical and administrative requirements for your new role. This will include Occupation Specific requirements. You will be required to work through the Induction Checklist. You will be asked to participate in the Performance Management process to assist you to set your direction and further understand the position requirements.

First 12 months of employment

Upon completion of this time frame you will be provided with the opportunity to reflect on new skills developed and provides insight into the development of your future goals. During this stage you will be encouraged to explore the Learning and Development objectives and complete your annual Performance Management appraisal.

Feedback

To continually improve the induction process you may be asked to complete a Feedback Survey during your initial 12 months. Feedback is important to assist us to ensure that your induction and future inductions are effective and relevant.
