New Director appointed for WWRRH

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Cooper to the new role of Director of Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital (WWRRH).

Chief Executive Jill Ludford said she was thrilled to announce the appointment of Ms Cooper after an extensive international and national recruitment search.

“Ms Cooper has a distinguished career in the health sector having worked as a Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse Manager, Director of Nursing, General Manager and a Managing Director,” said Ms Ludford.

Most recently she was Managing Director for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service’s Integrated Care.

“Ms Cooper is an innovative, strategic leader and we welcome the skills she will bring to this key role at WWRRH and across MLHD,” Ms Ludford said.

Ms Cooper said she was looking forward to delivering innovative and sustainable health solutions in her new role.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to lead one of the largest workforces in the region in the development and implementation of new health models of care in line with MLHD’s strategic vision,” said Ms Cooper.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with all the staff at Wagga Wagga in providing the best possible care for all residents of the region,” she said.

Ms Ludford paid tribute to Owen Thomas who has been Acting General Manager since 2016.

Ms Cooper will commence in her new role on Monday 1 May.
