Healthy and Active for Life

Regular physical activity and healthy eating is important in maintaining good health. As we age it is even more important as it can help to:

  • stay fit and independent as long as possible,
  • reduce your risk of a fall, and
  • prevent or manage chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. 

Healthy and Active for Life is a FREE online healthy lifestyle program designed to help you learn how to make small, sustainable changes in your lifestyle to improve your health. 

How will Healthy and Active for Life help you?

The Healthy and Active for Life program gives you the skills and knowledge to improve your health and wellbeing. It helps you stay active and independent. The program teaches you how to eat healthy and safe ways to be physically active to improve physical function and prevent falls.

Topics include:

  • Healthy food and serving sizes
  • Goal setting
  • Sugar, fat, salt, label reading, calcium and vitamin D
  • Fibre and incontinence

Optional sessions include:

  • Oral health
  • Recipes and food swaps
  • Food safety and smart shopping
  • Falls prevention
  • Staying motivated

Who can join?

If you are 60 years or over, or 45 years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, live at home and want to improve your health and wellbeing, Healthy and Active For Life could be just right for you.  You will need access to email and an internet connection on a computer, laptop or tablet.

Unfortunately the program is not suitable for those with dementia or those who are unable to walk independently. The program is currently only offered in English.
