Healthy streets, places and spaces
The streets, places and spaces we live in has a large effect on our health and wellbeing. The way we plan and build our villages, towns and cities affects our short and long term health. The streets, places and spaces we live in can make healthy living easier to build into our daily lives.

Healthy Streets Demonstration Grants program
In 2021, Health Promotion aims to work with three local councils to deliver small projects to make streets healthier places for people.
The projects will use the Healthy Streets indicators and assessment process to score projects areas before and after changes.
Councils interested in the program should download the flyer and application form and apply by 31 January 2021.

Healthy Town Challenge
The Healthy Town Challenge aims to create supportive environments and facilitate healthy living activities for community members.
- The Challenge takes place in towns of 1,000 to 15,000 residents and towns receiving the grant receive funding to undertake a range of projects and programs.
- Murrumbidgee Local Health District is supporting two projects at present;
- Snowy Valleys have included activities such as building of wicking beds in Tumut and Tumbarumba public spaces and wicking bed online tutorials and competitions. See more here.
- Holbrook have focussed on Youth, Healthy Clubs and Groups Catering and Participation and have encouraged NSW Get Healthy Service coaching.
